My husband and I leave for Argentina next week - just as our two-year old leaves for a vacation to visit her grandparents - yay!
Vacations should be about taking a break and relaxing -- not babysitting in a foreign setting. Americans get so little vacation already...
We do it all the time and have since kids were 6 weeks old! Can't wait for those middle school years when they're actually absorbing it! :
The parents seemed to have really experienced their own travels a different and positive way because of Alex being with them. Kudos to them
I have taken my son on snowmobile trips strapped his car seat on and lets roll! On horseback, that's what the sling was made for rights?
We took our kids all over on vacation, but that was when they were in grade school and not when they were babies or toddlers.
A child under say 7 yrs old is too young to get much out of the experience anyway.
If I had a job that required that much travel, I would take my infant too. We have waited to take big vacations until now (our son is 5) and it has been a great experience for all of us.
We've taken a 6 day old child in our private plane to visit his grandmother. Flight was 2 hours. Took out front seat, put baby carrier in facing the back seat, and it was easy. Could feed, change diapers and the baby loved it. When he was 9 months old we took him to the Bahamas in a private plane (rented). Again, put baby seat in backwards, did the same thing. Had arranged for a sitter when we went on special tours and in the evenings. We took him to the restaurants, where he was catered to like a prince I might add, out touring, where he was spoiled rotten by everyone. We all had a ball! But planning ahead was essential and really saved us a lot of grief. Would do it again anytime. Believe me, we got fantastic service when him along.
